Evangelical Churches Alliance chairman Bishop Mark Kariuki has urged Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to crack the whip on corrupt officials in his administration in a bid to enhance transparency in the county's operations.

Kariuki on Sunday said that the allegations of misappropriation of funds in Nakuru County are on the increase and thus called for the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to conduct investigations into the alleged matter.

“We are disappointed by corruption allegations levelled against our county leaders. No government official should be allowed to run any office until investigations against them by EACC is completed,” said Kariuki.

He urged  Mbugua to treat corruption as a dangerous vice that is slowly eating away into the county’s economic proceeds.

He was speaking when he joined the area youth for peaceful demonstration against corruption in the county.

“Public and private officials implicated in corrupt deals should give in and agree to step out of public property and wait for the completion of investigations. It is our duty as Kenyans to fight against corruption and therefore we will keep demanding for answers,” Kariuki added.
