The first lady, Margaret Kenyatta has urged all Kenyan women to promote peace.

She said Kenyan women are good influencers and, therefore, needs to use their power of influence to spread messages of peace. She urged the government to include women in development activities and community initiatives to allow them spread peace.

‘‘True peace will only be achieved if women are included in the community development programs,’’ she said.

Speaking on Tuesday at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), the first lady advised women to celebrate International Women’s Day proudly.

At the same time, Kibera women were advised to take part in any development activities that will help them remember what they have done.

‘‘The late Wangari Mathaai started a green belt movement. She was fought from angles but never gave up the battle. I, therefore, advise women to try engaging in anything that that will leave them a legacy, said Perris Andole, a Kibera resident.
