Police in Kiambu have arrested a 28-year-old man in Kirigiti who allegedly eloped with a 14-year-old girl.
The girl who is looking forward to getting her KCPE results after she sat for her exam last month, was allegedly found in the man's house after a tip-off from members of the public.
The girl's parents had reported the matter to the police after their daughter went missing two weeks ago.
Kiambu OCPD Stephen Ng'etich, said that they got a tip-off from members of the public and traced the house where the man was with the minor in Kirigiti.
He said that the girl went missing at her home in Ndumberi two weeks ago.
"We have the man in custody and girl has also been questioned and this will help in investigations. However I want to sound a stern warning to adults who take advantage of minors and lie to them, that the law will soon catch up with them," said Ng'etich.
He also urged residents to be very vigilant and report any similar case. He said that community residents should not condone such activities as those children are the future of the nation and they needed to be rescued for they are innocent.
"Let's be each other's keepers on such criminal acts.We need to assist each other in this because we cannot tell who the next victim will be," said the police boss.
