A cleric in Kisii County has cited poor parenting as one of the contributing factors for moral decadence in teenagers.

The African Inland Church Reverend Victor Mose revealed this on Sunday during a graduation ceremony for Kuinua Kizazi Kipya (KUKIKI) Teens Academy.

Sixty teenagers graduated after undergoing a one-week training.

Reverend Mose noted that a majority of parents have abdicated their roles a move that has compromised the behavior among teenagers.

"Parents have a big role to play in the upbringing of their children and a child will grow the way you train them. Most parents are either busy that they don't have time to share with their children or you don't care and monitor their growth."

He added: "This brings about radicalisation and we should not worry if we are bombed by our own children."

The cleric told this reporter that the main aim of the annual camp was to train the teens on positive morals through spiritual nourishment and mentoring.

"The idea of having training for the teenagers was born after our 35th anniversary in 2013, so that we can help them grow into responsible members of society," he said.

He added: "So far, for the two modules; last year when we had the first training and this year, we have trained 110 teenagers with this year alone being 60 teenagers."

Rev Mose said the teenagers who were trained in the week-long camp came from different denominations.

"The training of teenagers cut across all denominations. Our aim is not only to benefit our members but the entire community."
