Nyamira County public health department has urged the public to be alert of imposters posing as public health officers and extorting money from them.
This comes after the department arrested one middle aged man who was masquerading as a public health officer in Nyamira south sub county and issuing fake permits to unsuspecting traders.
Addressing the press in his office, David Oyaro, a public health officer in-charge of Nyamira sub county said that imposters on the sector were on the rise, and urged the public to report any suspicious case in order to apprehend them.
"I want to urge the public to be on high alert over the rising cases of imposters and report any officer or person who they suspect to the police officers," he said.
The culprit, only identified as Elkana, is currently at the police custody as investigations are being concluded. He was found with a rim of fake medical permits and fake rubber stamps.
