Kisii County secondary school head teachers have been urged to engage parents fully in the management of school affairs to avert unnecessary conflicts.
According to chairman of secondary school heads in kisii County Mr Jackson Motari head teachers must strive to create conducive environment that will allow for the participation of the parents in all development activities of their schools.
“It’s sad that in most of our schools, parents have been apathetic of school management issues, they only become vocal when schools perform against their wishes. Heads must start engaging parents for positive development,” he said.
Motari noted that when parents are mutually engaged in the running of schools, ownership is guaranteed including accepting results when released.
“Parents inputs should be considered as well as those of other stakeholders because good performance is never only the teachers duty, it must factor heavily the efforts of the parents,” advised Motari
He said his during the burial of veteran teacher and founder of st Jacobs Academy, Mr Mosioma Jacobs in Iyabe on Monday.
Motari also advised on the need for school management to embrace the spirit of consultation even on the issue of paying school fees noting that parents should be allowed to take advantage of the harvest season to offset their fees.
