Residents of Githunguri constituency have applauded the area MP Peter Njoroge Baiya for his performance in using CDF.

This comes after Githunguri constituency was recently ranked the best in Mt. Kenya region in terms of CDF management.

The ranking was done after an evaluation exercise that was carried out by the fund’s board together with evaluators from the Ministry of Devolution.

In an interview with this writer on Wednesday, Francis Mburu, a resident, hailed how the funds have been used.

According to Mburu, improved infrastructure, construction of classrooms, dining halls and ablution blocks in schools, construction and rehabilitation of dispensaries among other projects has come as a relief to residents.

Rachael Muthoni, a teacher at Githunguri Township Primary School told this writer that CDF has helped the education sector to a great deal.

"In our school, a dormitory has been built," Muthoni said.

The evaluation report ranked Kibra constituency the best among 290 constituencies, followed by Kasipul Kabondo and Kabuchai in Nyanza and Western regions respectively.

They were followed by Garissa Township in North Eastern, Rongai in South Rift, Kapseret in North Rift, Rabai in Coast, Githunguri in Central and finally Kitui in Eastern region.
