Flower vendors in Kibera made quite a huge profit from sales this valentine season.
Some of the flower vendors at Laini Saba market said that in the last two days, before Valentines they had been receiving a bigger number of customers and managed to sell flowers that would have taken more than a month to be sold under normal circumstances.
“I have run out of flowers stock in the past 2 days, and this is not something that happens on a normal day or in between other months. I am happy with the number of customers who buy flowers from me for their loved ones," said Nathan Murimi, a flower vendor at Laini Saba.
“I sell red, pink, purple and white flowers. I have benefited from the business in the last 2 days too. At least, I can smile now the flowers have made me huge profits which will help me clear pending bills for electricity, rent and school fees,’’ said James Njonjo, another vendor.
“The flower selling business has turned out to be a successful business this Valentines. It is not like the other days, in fact this year I have sold a lot of flowers,’’ said Njonjo.
