Residents of Kimende town in Lari constituency have lauded police efforts in taming crime in the area.

According to the residents, cases of crime that were being witnessed several months ago have gone down.

Speaking to this writer on Monday, residents said police patrols in the area have kept criminals at bay.

“We are happy that security is being restored in this area and that we can do our businesses without fear of being attacked or robbed,” Patrick Nga’ng’a, a mechanic, said.

He noted that the relationship between the police and the public had improved.

“It was difficult for us earlier to trust the police with information but now we feel confident in sharing information with them,” he said.

The residents said no insecurity incidents were reported within the area during Christmas and the New Year days.

“On matters security, there is a great improvement because cases of crime have drastically gone down and we appreciate the efforts the police are making,” Monica Waithera said.

Ms Waithera intimated that criminals had made most parts of the area their dens but things have changed.

She attributed the reduction in crime to nyumba kumi and community policing strategies the government has put in place.

“As the year starts, we hope that the law agencies will maintain the state of security so that our businesses can grow,” she said.
