Speaking at the Huruma Home for the homeless where they visited and donated food staffs, the chair-lady of Limuru Muungano Women’s group Ms. Stella Mwangi said that as a group, they had agreed to sponsor well performers from rehabilitation centers to enable them to go to secondary schools.

She revealed that most of these children are top performers in schools but due to lack of funds, most of them don’t proceed into secondary schools unless well wishers come to their aid. She said that in an effort to end that, the group had decided that those children from the Huruma Home for the homeless that get above 300 marks in KCPE will be sponsored by the group to acquire their high school education.

"According to the report that we have received, out of 19 of those who sat for the exam last year, 12 managed to get above 300 marks and we are going to sponsor those 12 and we will provide the rest with their shopping when they join secondary schools,’’ said Ms. Mwangi.

The founder of the home, Mr. Erickson Njomo said that the home’s main target for these children as they are taken from the streets is to give them education which will later will help them in life. He revealed that the home which started in 2013 has rehabilitated 112 street children from Limuru and its environs.

"We always get challenges of funds and we want to thank these women’s group for their support. However, I would also like to appeal to well wishers to aid these children in any way to enable smooth operations and also to encourage the children,’’ said Njomo.
