Kisii residents have been cautioned against taking drugs without checking the expiry date of medicine they buy over the counter.
Kisii medical officer Joshua Kisabuli has raised concern saying a lot of residents neglected this important procedure of checking the expiry date of drugs indicated on them.
“Those medics at the chemists and clinics are human beings and prone to mistake," said Kisabuli.
"Your safety lies in your hands. Ensure you check the expiry date on the drugs you buy from chemists,” added Kisabuli.
He added that some individuals were only interested in making the best out of their businesses without considering the health of the patients.
“Be very cautious so that you don’t suffer the adverse effects of this simple neglect," said Kisabuli.
"Some practitioners are only interested in making money despite the adverse health effects expired drugs have on individuals,” he said.
