A 40-year-old man was on Monday morning arraigned before a Kisumu law court to answer to charges of fraudulently receiving Sh200,000.

Josphat Okoyo denied the charges before chief magistrate Harrison Adika for the crime allegedly committed on November 29th this year in Kisumu.

According to the prosecution, the accused defrauded Stephen Okal after alleging that he could assist him get a parcel of land in Lolwe estate.

The court heard that the two had been friends and Okal did not have any doubts handing over the money.

When they were supposed to meet and inspect the parcel of land, Okoyo allegedly did not turn up.

After waiting for a week, Okal decided to report the matter to the police who launched investigations into the matter.

The accused was arrested in his rural home in Kisian, Kisumu County.

The case will be heard on 26th Jan 2016.
