A Nakuru MP has accused many parents of absconding their duties in bringing up their children.
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri said that many young people are irresponsible leading to the rot being witnessed in society today.
Speaking on Sunday at the Nakuru Baptist church in Shabab after attending a church mass, Ngunjiri said a recent case in the area where a day old baby was found dumped at Karunga was a manifestation of moral decay in society.
"Our parents should to be so caring and could not allow such a thing to happen. Nowadays parents are so occupied with other issues to an extent of forgetting to interact with their children," Ngunjiri said.
He called on the youth to desist from irresponsible sexual activities.
“We have neighbours, friends, relatives, teachers, pastors and other responsible persons that will listen to you when you feel stressed up, please speak up, don’t die alone while we are here to offer a helping hand,” Ngunjiri added.
The baby had been rushed to Bahati sub-county hospital where he succumbed. Doctors said that was due to Pneumonia she had contacted after being exposed to cold for long.
Ngunjiri said his office will set up a guidance and counselling department in Bahati constituency to offer social guidance to the youth.
