Two ODM leaders have hailed the verdict by IEBC not to remove the name of Bungoma senator from the official register of voters over bribery.

A special IEBC committee led by Commissioner Thomas Letangule saved Senator Moses Wetangula’s political career after it refused to strike his name off the register of voters.

In an exclusive phone interview with this writer on Tuesday, MPs Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba) and Charles Geni (North Mugirango) were unanimous that the IEBC committee acted fairly on the matter that had caused panic among Cord coalition leaders and supporters.

“I want to say that the ruling was wise and fair. It was clear that he (Wetangula) had never being found culpable of any election criminality by a court of law and so the decision is a big boost in our camp. This shows that IEBC was acting independently without and dark force behind it,” Bosire said.

Geni accused the ruling Jubilee coalition of allegedly being behind Wetangula’s woes and hailed IEBC for acting fairly to prevent possible political fireworks in the country.

“The issue of Wetangula ever since his election was nullified till the time they accused him of voter bribery has shown how our friends from the other side (Jubilee) want to bring one of our principals down. It’s important that IEBC has acted justly and fairly to avoid possible political fireworks. As Cord, the landmark ruling has even united us further ahead of 2017. It’s time to strategise on how to win,” he said.
