Nyamira County children’s officer Samuel Masese has called on parents to ensure that their children do not get involved in activities that will ruin their lives in future during this holiday season.

Masese’s sentiments come after the completion of both the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education and the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams, with some of the students promising to stay at home and help their parents as they await the results before charting their next move.

Speaking to this writer on the phone, Masese said the children are now out of the care of teachers and that parents should take care of them and guide them, too.

“I want to ask parents of the children who sat their KCSE and KCPE to guide them because they will be staying at home for a very long time before joining other institutions and so many temptations from friends are bound to come their way and some may fall prey,” he said.

He said some might get into drugs or join criminal gangs and appealed to the parents to show them how to live responsibly so as to be better citizens in future.
