Pedestrians and motorists using the busy Mbaraki Road have urged the relevant authorities to construct a footbridge along the road, in a bid to ensure their safety.

Speaking to this writer on Monday, the pedestrians said that they risk their lives by crossing the road, adding that the construction of a footbridge will guarantee their safety.

According to the pedestrians, they often find it hard to cross the road especially in the morning, when many people are rushing to work.

The pedestrians said the motorists usually drive fast making it hard for them to cross the road, adding that they arrive at work late, as they are forced to wait for a long time for the road to become clear.

Joseph Ndegwa, a pedestrian, said that he nearly got knocked down by a speeding car on Saturday while crossing the road.

“I nearly died on Saturday. This road is very dangerous,” said Ndegwa.

Ndegwa requested the county government to intervene and construct a footbridge along the road, in a bid to save the lives of residents.

Irene Kaingu, said the road is affecting her daily routine as she is forced to wait for the road to clear before she can cross to the other side.

“This road is really affecting my operations. I have to spend at least 10 minutes every morning before crossing to the other side,” said Kaingu.

Fatuma Abdi, an M-Pesa agent, said she normally loses customers everyday as a result of delays.

“Only a footbridge will solve this problem,” said Abdi.
