Senator Mong’are Okong’o has denied insulting county residents on his official Facebook account whenever he is put on task to respond to vital issues.

The Nyamira Senator had come under immense criticism from a section of youths from the county who branded the Ford Kenya senator as ‘abusive and rigid creature’ in the official Facebook page of Nyamira County.

However, in a quick rejoinder, the Okong'o denied insulting the residents and claimed that the purported account is a creation by his opponents to taint his reputation.

“I have heard claims from a number of youths that I have been using abusive language when they ask questions on my Facebook account. The alleged account has nothing to do with me because it’s a pseudo-account," said Okong'o.

"Some people are out to taint my reputation using fake accounts and it’s important that our people understand that I am above petty insults," added the Senator.

He threatened to take legal action against people behind the creation of the fake account, and challenged youths to use social media positively to transform the society.

"There are two Facebook accounts bearing my name and the official one has the special Senate seal. I will take legal action against those behind the pseudo-account because its content is spoiling my reputation," stated the Senator.

"Our youths should use social media positively instead of using it as a channel to settle political scores with some of us," he added.

The embattled Senator blamed his opponents for using social media to defame his character and challenged them to face him head on rather than tainting his name online.

“I know some of my competitors are funding youths to taint my name. I know them and when the right time comes, I will expose them," said Okong'o.

"They should face me head on instead of tainting my reputation online by posting fake content in my name," added the Senator.
