Kibera residents are having a hard time due to the lack of water in the slum.
They say in the last two weeks, the availability of water in the area has been a challenge and now water vendors are selling water expensively such that a 20-litre jerrycan goes for sh40 unlike before where it cost sh10.
“Before in the house you could find 100 litre containers and several jerrycans filled with water but today getting even 4 jerrycans full of water is impossible. Many water sources have dried up and the available water sources serve many people in the area thus making water too expensive," said Catherine Mwende, a resident at Kibera's Lindi Village.
"During rains, we usually fetch water for washing and bathing but since there have been no rains we are forced to suffer. For now, we have no other choice but to keep up with this harsh conditions,’’ she said.
