Enock Mutua is a shoe repairer at Kibera Makina village and says that he has been in the business since 1997 which has made him a competent being.

Speaking at his business area this morning, Mutua said that he decided to train as a shoe repairer in 1994 in his mother land, Kitui, later he moved to Nairobi in 1996 where he got a job.

"I decided to quit the job as a labourer since I found it hard to survive. Since I had trained as a shoe repairer I decided to open up a shoe repairing business in 1997. I used the money I had and saved it to buy materials. Since then I served Kibera people,’’ said Mutua.

"My prices are not expensive as compared to others whom we started with. Some quit the business due to lack of customers because of the high repairing charges they charged. My fair prices have made me progress in this business," he said.

From his business, he has managed to educate all his five children and three of them have completed secondary education as two others are in forms 3 and 1 respectively.
