Thika’s Hospital ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi has expressed concern over the failure by the youths to apply for the Uwezo Fund and other State loans that can help them to start income generating ventures.

Speaking from Thika town during the 2nd graduation ceremony for Hemland College, Wamwangi said that many youths don't apply for the loans for fear of failing to re-pay them on time which he said had greatly affected youth empowerment.

"There is a lot of state funds in all the offices including mine but i receive requests from very few youths. This money is yours and you should utilise it maximally,” he said.

“The youths should take the few opportunities we have around to venture into business instead of idling or waiting for white collar jobs," he said.

Mwangi further said that the kitties set up by the national government are meant to empower the youth and urged young people to form groups and apply for them despite the fact that some are still students.

“There are few groups who are doing very well with the government funding and we should all emulate them and get going. Flock the offices and apply for the money and those that have graduated don’t wait for jobs to come easily, into businesses,” he added.
