Addressing a congregation at St Jude Catholic Church in Athi River on Sunday, Makau said the Jubilee government should give Ngilu her job back saying her suspension was out of "malice orchestrated by certain individuals in the government for their personal vested interests".

“We as Ukambani leaders are calling on the Jubilee government to reinstate our sister, Charity Ngilu, as the Lands Cabinet Secretary because she is not corrupt and has served the docket with lots of transparency, commitment and professionalism,” said Makau.

Makau accused the Jubilee government of "targeting innocent leaders who have exemplary track records" in public service instead of bringing to book culprits of corruption.

“The president should not accept corruption in his government, anybody who has been mentioned as corrupt or the docket she or he is in charge of said to have a scam, should quit office to allow for investigations. There is no need of leaving others who have been mentioned on corrupt dealings only to victimise innocent leaders,” said Makau.

Makau said as Ngilu takes back her office, the devolution CS Anne Waiguru, should step aside to allow for independent investigations to be conducted in her docket.

“We are not happy to see how the state has neglected Kambas, the allegations that Ngilu is corrupt are not true. She did a sterling job while in the ministry of health where she improved health standards across the country through several good initiatives like provision of ambulances to public hospitals. She also transformed the lands ministry for the short period of time she was in the office as the CS,” said Makau.

The Mavoko MP said that it was injustice for Ngilu to be kept out office even after having been cleared of wrongdoing.
