Two pedestrians were killed in an accident involving a matatu at Ngeria area along the Cheptiret-Eldoret highway on Friday afternoon.
One of them died on the spot while the second victim succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to Eldoret Teaching and Referral Hospital. The two are said to be brothers.
According to witnesses, the matatu was trying to escape a head-on collision with an approaching truck and hit the two who were standing by the road.
'The matatu was trying to evade collision with the truck before hitting the two brothers," one of the on-lookers explained.
The two are said to have been waiting for their father who had gone to deposit money they earned from the sale of cows in Cheptiret market, a few kilometres from Ngeria Centre before meeting the cruel hands of death.
Residents who had gathered at the scene complained that vehicles are driven at high speeds along the road threatening their lives.
"Vehicles move at a dangerous speed along this road which puts our lives at risk," one of the residents said.
