A Kisii-based Pastor Paul Nyamweya has dismissed recent weather prediction by the Kenya Meteorological Department about expected El Nino rains.

He said he had offered intercessory prayers about the expected storms and they had been answered.

“I prayed and asked God to spares us the calamities/disasters that could be caused by El Nino rains and God responded by transferring the El Nino from the mainland to the deep Sea," Pastor Nyamweya of Maximum Miracles Church said.

This comes barely a month after the weather personnel called on the national government and county governments and other stakeholders to prepare for the heavy rains, which they said will be characterised by floods and mudslides among other calamities.

According to the Met department, the rains will start in October and pound the country until December.

But Nyamweya said the El Nino rains will not be experienced in Kenya and Kenyans are safe and should go about their business without fear.

He called on the government, which has already set aside Sh5 billion to mitigate the effects of El Nino, to channel the funds to other activities because God has stopped the rains.

“As a believer you should pray in faith and believe it has been done,” he said.

He said God had stopped the rains so that Kenyans who had stopped believing in him can go back to his fold.
