Police in Kisumu on Monday arrested two suspects, recovered three homemade guns and assortment of household goods in a rented house within Manyatta slums.

Kisumu OCPD Christopher Mushimba said police got a tip off from the public and raided the house.

“Police raided the house early this morning after getting a confidential tip from the public,” he said.

Mushimba said police arrested the two men who were inside the house and recovered electronics such as television sets, mobile phones and other household goods.

Addressing the press at Kondele police station where the stolen items are being kept, the OCPD said a victim who went to report his missing items already had identified his television set.

He urged residents who have been victims of house breaking, mugging and robbery with violence to go the station and identify their lost items.

“Anyone who has his or her property stolen in Kisumu should visit Kondele police station and make identification of their stolen items,” he said.

The officer commended the public for sharing information that will lead in combating crime in the lakeside city.

The police boss said fighting crime should be a collective responsibility.

The suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete, said the OCPD.
