Gatundu North deputy traffic commandant Moses Mwau has cautioned passengers against boarding overloaded PSV Probox matatus as doing so is putting their lives at risk.
He warned passengers who board overloaded probox taxis knowing fully well that their capacity is only 5 passengers including the driver.
"Why would someone endanger his/her life by boarding a full probox taxi? It’s disheartening that many people still flock to board such vehicles even with the existence of other means of transportation," he observed.
Mwau lamented that whenever his officers impound overloaded Probox taxis, yet it is an offence for the vehicle to carry excess passengers.
"Passenger should be informed that in case of an accident, the insurance company will only cover 5 passengers and the rest are left to cater for their own bills," he noted.
Mwau was speaking on Tuesday in Kamwangi during a brief road safety meeting.
