President Uhuru Kenyatta has agreed to the government giving more money to the counties to help in their development.
The decision was made on Friday after a two day governor’s summit with the president at the Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri County. However, the governors will be expected to cut their transport expenditure.
Due to this agreement, the counties will receive sh 294 billion in the next financial year. The money will be used for the development of projects in the counties. Youths and women are among those who will benefit from the money.
The president, however, said that he will form a team to analyse functions of the senators and governors and cut on wastage of resources. He called on county assemblies to stop overspending since they are the ones known for excessive spending.
He also urged them to mind the welfare of the country by reducing the way they spend the government’s money.
President Kenyatta also congratulated the governors for doing a good job in their counties saying every county has its own development achieved through the governors.
