Maasai Mara University Kisii Campus Director Dr James Ontieri has blamed clanism for the poor performance of institutions in Kisii County.

Dr Ontieri during a thanks giving ceremony at Riverbank Academy in the outskirts of Kisii town called on the local community to refrain from clanism when it comes to matters education.

Riverbank Academy was celebrating good 2015 KCPE results.

He claimed that institutions in the region continue to embrace clanism in hiring institution heads to the detriment of their children's education and careers.

Dr Ontieri warned the local community against fighting for their own sons and daughters to head local learning institutions even when they don't meet the required qualifications.

"I am asking local community members to welcome professionals and performers to head local schools and other learning institutions instead of pushing for one of their sons and daughters to occupy such positions to the detriment of the learners' performance," he said.
