Drivers found to be over speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol will be arrested and prosecuted, a traffic officer has warned.
Mary Omari who is the Rift valley provincial traffic enforcement officer on Friday issued the stern warning against motorists following a grisly road accident in Salgaa which claimed 5 lives early Friday morning.
Ms Omari claimed that the two crimes were the leading accident causes in major roads in Rift valley and warned drivers to either shape up or face the full force of the law.
In the sad incident, the five people who perished were part of an 8-man passengers who were allegedly coming from a new year party in Nakuru when the saloon car they were travelling in rammed into a bus around the Nakuru TTC which is 3km from Salgaa killing two on the spot.
The other three succumbed while being rushed to the provincial general hospital Nakuru even as another three escaped with serious injuries.
Omari stated that preliminary reports indicated that the occupants of the saloon car were allegedly intoxicated and were speeding. However, no one was injured on the side of the bus.
