Residents of Bahati Trading Centre are living in fear after David Mwaura, a business man, was shot dead by suspected robbers Sunday night before escaping on a motorbike.

Mwaura who owned a mini-supermarket at the centre is said to have been killed by the unknown assailants in his shop.

According to Bahati Deputy County Commissioner Kithinji Ithai who arrived at the crime scene on Monday morning, the thugs allegedly stole an unknown amount of money before running away on a motorbike.

"The incident took place on Sunday night where suspected robbers shot Mwaura with an AK47 riffle before running away with some amount of money. They used a motorbike to escape from the the scene," Ithai told the media.

The county commissioner assured the residents of their safety, saying the police will conduct thorough investigations.

"We have already started hunting the suspects and they will soon be brought to justice. The District Security Committee will also be holding daily security meetings and engage police in a string of operations in a bid to flush out criminals from their hideouts," he said.

Traders in the area and neighbouring trading centers of Kabazi and Maili Kumi have since petitioned local security agencies to stay alert and report any suspicious persons.
