Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and elected leaders have continued to raise concern over transfer of voters in Kisumu County during this voter registration period.
There have been allegations that some MCAs were transporting voters from neighbouring wards and regions to their wards to register so that they have an added advantage come 2017.
This has seen some MCAs come out fuming.
Migosi Ward Representative Paul Achayo said whatever some of his counterparts were doing wasn’t good and will affect the presidential votes for Coalition for Reforms and Democracy leader Raila Odinga.
He stated that it has come to his knowledge that voters have been mistakenly transferred from their respective areas where they voted to other areas without their consent.
IEBC had stated that they had received reports of politicians transporting voters from other regions to come register as voters in their area of interest with others being transported from other counties.
“We are closely monitoring the transfer trends and the possible motivations,” said Ezra Chiloba, the commission’s CEO.
