Cord leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka took their voter registration campaign to Matuu and Masinga in Machakos on Sunday, urging their supporters to register in large numbers.
Speaking in Matuu Town, Odinga said the coalition would win next year’s elections only if all eligible voters registered.
“I am assuring you that not again will we come back to you to talk of a stolen election. All we are asking from you this time round is for you to come out in large numbers to vote and leave the rest to us,” said Odinga.
The Coalition for Reform and Democracy co-principal Kalonzo claimed that the Jubilee administration will not be able stand the test of time and was bound to split due to the many challenges and accusations against its members especially concerning corruption.
He said the upcoming 2017 elections would be a repeat of the 2002 one when all Kenyans came together to kick out the KANU government because of bad governance.
Musyoka called on Cord supporters to be prepared to vote out leaders who had betrayed the coalition by working with Jubilee.
“Who gets whatever post after we win the elections is not an issue to us because our core business now is to send the Jubilee government home,” said Musyoka.
He added that President Uhuru Kenyatta ought to resign for having lost the war on corruption and admitting it in a foreign country.
“I have never seen a President who, instead of tackling the issues bedevilling his government, he goes to tell other nations that his country is full of corruption. This means he should resign,” he added, referring to a speech the President gave to Kenyans living in Israel last week.
In the speech, Kenyatta said Kenyans were experts at stealing and hurling insults.
