Kibera mothers on Friday pleaded with youths in the area to shun from engaging in illegal dealings.

The dot com mama generation group said youths, especially men in Nairobi, are always waiting upon the government to fund them and help them out. When they realise their dreams are not coming to pass, they engage in unlawful acts.

‘‘Our male youths are in a dilemma. They think their parents will always provide for them. When they realise this isn’t the case, they then seek the intervention of the government who don’t really help them much. They then turn to crime,’’ said Rita Walaula, a resident.

The dot com mother generation group says they believe male youths can work harder and apply for loans instead of engaging in crime that will soon cost them their lives.

This comes days after a young 23-year-old man was lynched in Kangemi for allegedly stealing from a neighbour’s house.

Women have cautioned the youths from engaging in theft and robbery which are said to be crimes most Kibera youths engage in.
