Residents from Kibera have been advised to be keen as they register as voters in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

Speaking this morning in Kibera Soweto area, Jared Oremo, a law student at Kenyatta University said that youths from Kibera should not be used as puppets by politicians in the coming general election.

“As youths, we should not accept false promises from greedy leaders and aspirants who will later ignore us once elected,’’ said Oremo.

He urged IEBC clerks to be keen as they register residents as voters.

“IEBC clerks should avoid incidents whereby once one has registered as a voter only to find their name missing from the list on the Election Day. IEBC should ensure the registering person has given clear names and a clear polling station name to avoid errors,” added Oremo.

“I will not accept any bribe to register as a voter, change my station of voting nor accept bribes when elections will come. I stand firm to my words will never be moved by false promises from the selfish leaders who thinks they are the ones who only need money,” said James Tanui, a resident of Soweto village, Kibera.
