Residents of Lindi village in Kibera are forced to walk long distances in search of water at their neighbouring Sarang’ombe village.
“I wake up as early from 5:00 am to go and search water before going to work. At the fetching area I find other residents lined up to fetch. It takes me more than half an hour before I fetch,’’ said Moses Mumbo, a resident from Lindi.
Mumbo urged residents to be keen on the use of water and take care not to buy dirty water that might lead to waterborne diseases such as cholera.
“Be keen as you buy water from vendors and water boreholes. You may buy dirty water which is unsafe for use thus this will bring water-related diseases,” he said.
At the moment, the whole of Kibera is facing water problems.
