Secondary school heads allied to Knut Masaba branch have been warned against flouting school fees regulations that were set by the Ministry of Education, following recommendations by the Dr Kilemi Mwiria-led commission.

The new regulations require day school to charge up to Sh10,000 and boarding schools to charge up to Sh53,000 per year.

Speaking at Gesima primary school on Tuesday, branch secretary general Mr Meshack Ombong’i said they would not condone head teachers who continue to contravene the new regulations by charging extra fees.

“The recommendations were crystal clear and our members who are principals have no choice but to obey the directives. We want members who are law abiding because that is our principle and we ought to adhere to that,” he said.

According to him, the branch secretariat unanimously agreed that those violating the directive would have their names expunged from the official list with recommendations sent to the main offices in Nairobi.

“We are unanimous that we must protect government policy. We will expel those who will go contrary to the recommendations as implemented by the ministry and send their names to the main branch offices,” he said.

He however challenged the government to release funds meant for subsidising secondary education in time to avoid stagnating of functions at schools.
