An M-Pesa shop in Kiambu town was Tuesday afternoon robbed of Sh300,000 by three armed robbers, 200 metres away from Kiambu Police station.
According to the M-Pesa shop attendant Micheal Kariuki, the robbers had a white Toyota saloon car parked outside the M-Pesa shop for about 20 minutes before the crime was committed.
He revealed that the robbers had not masked themselves and he would identify two of them who walked into the shop and committed the offense.
Confirming the incident, Kiambu OCPD SSP Stephen Ng'etich said that the suspects escaped a few minutes after police were alerted.
He said that the suspects are from Kiambaa.
The police boss revealed that the M-Pesa attendant had been interrogated and had greatly helped in giving leads to find the suspects.
He said even though they drove off and escaped, some members of the public recorded the number plate of the vehicle they used.
"So far we have information that can lead to arrest of the suspects. They escaped with about Sh300,000. However, no one was hurt during the robbery," said Ng'etich.
He also said that CCTV footage from cameras outside a supermarket next to the shop will help in identifying the criminals.
