Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on Tuesday afternoon handed over personal information on his wealth to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Committee (EACC) officers in a move to clear his name from corruption allegations.
Speaking to the press outside the governor's office in Miwani Machakos town, the director of communications, Mutinda Mwanzia said the governor had issued out all the information including his bank accounts details and all mobile money transfer transactions.
Mutua on his Facebook page backed up the information stating he had taken the move in a bid to defeat corruption during his term as the governor.
"I have today handed over all my assets and wealth detailed report so as to lead from the front. I have been a respecter of tax paying and have not acquired any money illegally from the County of Machakos, " read the post.
Mutua further said he was consulting with the anti-corruption body to ensure his deputy, all CeCs and employed staff all go through the audit to ensure no corruption is in his government.
"Maendeleo Chap Chap condones no corruption and any person in my government who cannot stand the heat should resign," he added.
Mwanzia also announced that through the county government website, residents who have lost their money to corrupt officials launch their complaints.
