A middle-aged man was arrested on Tuesday evening in Kithimani market, Yatta Sub-County for allegedly conning M-Pesa agents in the area.

Confirming the incident, Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang said the culprit had allegedly used his tricks to con M-Pesa agents in the area over Sh30,000.

"The young man has been using his tricks to con M-Pesa agents in the area. One of the operators unearthed his tricks and informed his fellow operators. The culprit tried to run but the operators caught him and took him to the police station,” said Kipsang.

Kipsang cautioned M-Pesa agents against flouting the rules set by Safaricom telecommunications company such as asking clients to present their national identification cards.

The OCPD said they have launched investigations to unearth the tricks the culprit has been using and to determine how many people he has corned so far.

He urged business owners in the area to report such crimes so that the culprits can be brought to book.
