Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has assured the National Antibiotic Stewardship Committee of his government’s support saying antibiotic guidelines and regulations are critical for safe antibiotic use by the public.

Mbugua spoke Wednesday when he opened the fourth Infection Prevention Network-Kenya conference in Naivasha.

The three-day workshop is targeting policy makers, administrators, clinicians, pharmacists, laboratory personnel, nurses and veterinary practitioners in antimicrobial use.

Addressing participants, the county boss said the conference was aimed at deliberating critical issues on antibiotic resistance so as to improve on the ability to treat infectious diseases and minimise the deflating advances in health and medicine.

"I affirm to you that all counties are ready to back up the National Antibiotic Stewardship Committee since this is something that needs all our support and cooperation. We must work together for effective service delivery," he said.
