Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has called on all leaders in the country to join hands in the fight against corruption which is slowly eating into various sectors of the economy.
The county boss was addressing residents at Afraha Stadium on Saturday during the 52nd Jamhuri Day celebrations.
Mbugua said the increasing corruption levels in the country need urgent resolution rather than politicking.
'This is a dangerous vice that should be dealt with amicably. I therefore call upon elected leaders to act as role models to residents by supporting the government policies including fighting corruption in all sectors," Mbugua said.
He added that it is only by managing corruption that will ensure the county's development strategies are achieved for people to enjoy the services f their leaders.
"We cannot work for the citizens when still involving ourselves into corruption. There are a number of development goals to be achieved but corruption remains the biggest threat towards making them come true," the county boss further explained.
On health issues, Mbugua thanked the youths in the county for supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive to eradicate the killer brews and urged those still affected to visit private and government rehab centres in the county which he said were very operational.
The event was also attended by deputy Governor Joseph Rutto among other county leaders and officials.
