As the dry spell sets in, a section of Emabungo residents have raised concern over the increasing number of monkeys in the area scavenging for food.
According to the residents, they can no longer leave doors or windows open as monkey gain access causing havoc in the search of food.
Speaking to this Hivisasa writer on Wednesday, the residents said that some times when chasing away the monkeys they usually turn hostile, something that they consider dangerous.
“This monkey’s are a big problem to us, if you leave the house open then everything will be turned upside down. Sometimes they throw stones at you in case you attempt to chase them away,” said Christine Kanyani, a rsident in the area.
“If the government can intervene, it will be a relief to us because we have run out of ideas on how to solve this issue," said Martin Okumu, another resident.
They said that something needs to be done urgently to alleviate further conflict between the humans and the monkeys which seems likely considering that the dry spell is set to continue.
