Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has been branded a traitor and spy by a section of the Cord Nakuru County officials, demanding for his resignation from the party.
Addressing the press at the ODM county offices in Nakuru Town on Wednesday, they faulted Arama's move of openly denouncing the party that sponsored him into Parliament by announcing his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election come 2017.
Speaking on behalf of the more than 30 officials, regional TNA chairperson Abdul Noor described Arama's actions as a mockery to the Cord family, arguing that he was losing his political status as a leader by being member a one political party but engaging in the affairs of another one at the expense of his.
"What are his intentions of joining TNA while he is still a member of ODM, if he thinks he will get sympathy from our camp, we are here today to tell him that we are sorry. Let him make one stand and stick to it, or is he a spy," he said.
They called on him to come out openly and explain why he was betraying his mother party but insisted that the party was more important than an individual.
"Why attend Jubilee consultative meetings even outside Nakuru while he purports to be one of us? Not that we are begging him to stay, ODM and Cord to be specific is bigger than him, that just we want to put our house in order as the political scenary gets momentum," Noor said.
On Tuesday, Arama organised a press briefing in Nakuru Town where he clearly stated that he will join Jubilee Party during next year's general elections, a move that has sparked mixed reactions in the two camps in Nakuru.
