Police from Eldama-ravin drew a decomposing body of a 21-year-old year old who they identified as Gideon Kiprop Biwot, who is said to have been second-year student in University of Eldoret before facing his death.

The body was spotted floating on the dam water by primary school pupils who were walking to school on Friday morning, after which they ran back home and informed their parents who conducted police officers.

Police officers arrived at the scene almost immediately and drew the body and took it to Koibatek district hospital Mortuary for postmortem.

According to Uasin Gishu assistant OCPD Mr Jonathan Wafula, the young man hails from Ainabkoi location in Eldoret East.

"The deceased appears to have been strangled to death in a place far away and his body later dumped in Tabare dam in Eldama-ravin," said Mr Wafula.

The assistant OCPD said that police have started investigations to determine the cause of the student's death.

This happened barely three months since another killing happened in an Eldoret town campus of Moi university where a male student murdered his girlfriend by supposedly hitting her with a wood to death, after which he faced an angry mob that stoned him to death.
