Chocking traffic jams is one area that Kibera residents hope will not be a thorn in the flesh in 2016.

The bad memories of past years are what residents do not want to remember.

They said the perennial traffic jams did more harm to their lives and businesses and they now hope that things will not be the same in this new year.

The notorious Lang'ata Road which serves as one of the main arteries to the area, is known for unending jams during rush hours.

The residents, especially businessmen, are always counting losses as they are forced to wait for hours on end in traffic.

They now hope that the government will find a long-lasting solution to this menace.

However, they admit it's a tricky situation which can as well be complicated to remedy.

Despite the fact that the area has a railway terminus, many residents prefer to use buses and matatus as they are always convenient.

Owing to the fact that the train has a fixed timetable, they say it does not serve their needs.

Daniel Ochieng' who works in town claims that he is always late for work.

He said he has to spend at least two hours in traffic.

He said his employer almost sacked him due to  lateness and sometimes absenteeism.

He urged the concerned authorities to help address the challenges.
