A nominated MCA in the Kisumu county assembly has commenced a campaign seeking to employ youths as security guards to deal with unemployment in the sub-county.

The campaign dubbed ‘Operation Kick Idleness Outside Nyakach’ seeks to rally many youths over 18 to apply for jobs as security guards so they do not idle in the villages.

The MCA, Lydia Odhiambo, asked residents to apply for the positions.

“If you know you are young or old person interested in security work, kindly contact me,” said Odhiambo.

She stated that the requirements for the job are the national identity card, any education certificate either Kenya Certificate of primary Education (KCPE) or Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), a letter from the area chief and a referee.

Odhiambo, who was nominated to represent the youth in the county assembly said this will ensure some people put food on their table instead of idling around in shopping centres.

She stated that applicants who will be shortlisted will be posted within Nyakach or other sub-counties in Kisumu County.
