The Sironga – Magombo road in West Mugirango Constituency will finally be tarmacked according to area MP Dr James Gesami.
Speaking when he toured various development projects on Friday in the constituency, the MP said the tendering process for the 27km road had been completed, further disclosing that a Chinese construction company will soon begin work on the heavily potholed road.
The road, which is the only link between the interior of Nyamira South Sub County and the rest of the country via the Nyamira-Kisii Highway is expected to boost the economic growth of the area once completed.
Last December, during Christmas holidays, leaders and residents called upon the MP to forget about his re-election in 2017 if the much politicised road was not tarmacked.
Area residents would not hide their joy from the news that the road will be tarmacked, as the road serves them well and many farmers in the area use it to transport their farm produce.
According to Moses Nyabaro, a resident in Makairo, the road has been in a poor state for a while but they are happy that at last it will be constructed.
“We call the MP to ensure that the construction ends in time so that we can travel and transport our farm produce with ease,” he added.
