Three young men were on Tuesday sentenced to death by a Kikuyu court after they were found guilty of robbery with violence.
The three, Martin Chege, Brian King’atua and David Serwanda all appeared before Chief Magistrate James Ogweno for the judgment.
The prosecution told the court that the three jointly attacked Ahmed Fazul while he was driving from work to his house in Kabete on September 13, 2015, armed with pistols. They then hijacked him a few metres from his house and walked away with sh 150,000, his Rolex watch, his two mobile phones, and a Fujifilm laptop.
It is alleged that they also beat Fazul, seriously injuring him. They also drove off with Fazul’s car, Range Rover Sport. The car was, however, recovered in Kikuyu Ondiri area three days after the incident by police from Kikuyu police station.
On October 3, 2015, King’atua was arrested through a tracker of the stolen phone he was using. He helped the police arrest the other two suspects.
Police recovered 7 pistols and 36 bullets during the arrest of Chege and Serwanda. They also recovered the stolen laptop.
The investigating officer from Kikuyu Police Station Inspector Boru Dida, testified before the court.
