The Kisii County government has been challenged to fulfil its promises before the end of the first five years of devolution.
According to Kisii open air market traders, the county government has not done much as it promised.
Led by their chairman Elijah Ombongi, the traders accused the county government of failing to fulfil its promises in due time since time is running out to the next general election and the state of the market is getting worse.
Mr Ombongi, who was speaking on Tuesday at the market, he said the county government promised to build them a toilet and install water at the market but noting so far as been done.
“Last year, the governor promised many things on how this market will have a new face but nothing so far as been done. We urge the county to remember the promises and fulfil them,” said Ombongi.
Ombongi added that the county government has been announcing through the media that they have done such improvements in the market, contrary to what is on the ground.
“As traders of this open air market, we are shocked to hear from some media platforms that the county has done what it promised in this market but we will like to let our people know that still we are suffering nothing has been done,” added Ombongi.
They have appealed to the county government to remember the promises and fulfil them in time.
