A Kisii University official is counting losses after his pick-up vehicle was burned to ashes on Wednesday night.
Ishmael Ondieki who heads Kisii University security department was shocked to learn of the incident on Thursday morning when he reported for duty.
"I was here till late-night preparing for the ongoing Kisii Entrepreneurship Summit, but when I came back in the morning I found my vehicle in ashes," said Ondieki.
According to a security officer who requested for anonymity and was in charge on Wednesday night, he said that he saw the vehicle burning but did not spot the cause of the fire or anyone around it.
"I saw flames rising from the rear part of the pickup, probably the engine. I was shocked and went to call my colleagues who were at the main gate for help. Unfortunately, it was too late to put out the fire," he explained.
Ondieki said further investigations will be done to identify the cause of the fire.
