The Kenya National Union of Teachers Nairobi branch assistant secretary of finance Mrs Jane Ochwedo has expressed optimism that the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams due for next week will not not be marred with irregularities.

Mrs. Ochwedo who is also a teacher at Raila Educational Centre in Kibera has reiterated that primary school teachers are not ready to take part in exam cheating as has been seen with the just concluded KCSE examination.

However, she has hinted that there might an attempt by ill motive people to leak the examinations.

"We cannot predict by now whether there will be KCPE exam irregularity although as primary school teachers and officials, we hope that the examination process will be conducted well without leakage," she said in an interview on Thursday at the the centre.

"We want the pupils to be independent by doing the exams based on what they have been taught by their teachers and not through leakage. We don't want to fall victims of what has happened with KCSE," she added.

The KCPE candidates are expected to have their rehearsal on Monday next week before sitting their first paper on Tuesday.

The examination period shall last for three days.
